Youth Chosen from 1,000+ Applicants Begin Mission to Drive SDG Action on Campuses Across Bangladesh
May 30, 2025
On 28 May 2025, the atmosphere at UNDP Bangladesh was filled with excitement and purpose. Around 40 bright young minds from across the country's different universities walked into the UNDP office, filled with dreams and determination. Chosen from over a thousand applicants, they began their journey as UNDP Student Ambassadors, ready to raise their voices for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and bring positive changes to their university campuses.
These students are more than just representatives. They are advocates, storytellers, and connectors. “This is not just a programme. It’s a platform to believe in ourselves and in the power of youth,” said Nivrtita Munib from Sylhet, who wants to tackle the impact of climate change on underprivileged children’s mental health.
Shahrir Mahmud Siddiquee from the Bangladesh University of Professionals expressed a passion for the environment—and something more. “Apart from working for the environment, I would like to rehabilitate animals,” he said, reflecting the diverse ideas youth bring to development.
UNDP Resident Representative Stefan Liller welcomed the ambassadors with warmth and hope. “The youth of this country are stepping up and taking charge of their future,” he said, urging them to act fast as the world nears the 2030 SDG deadline.
As part of UNDP’s global programme, these ambassadors will now use their voice, platforms, and passion to promote UNDP’s mission on campus and beyond. Through campaigns, community work, and creativity, they will carry forward a message: the future belongs to those who dare to change it.
