Rapid Gender Analysis: Bangladesh Flash Floods and Landslides (July 2026)

Severe flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rainfall in July have affected about 1.28 million people across south-eastern Bangladesh, causing widespread damage to homes, infrastructure, water and sanitation facilities, agricultural land and livelihoods. Leaving more than 436,000 people in need of humanitarian assistance, the crisis has exposed and intensified existing inequalities and vulnerabilities.

Women, girls and persons with disabilities have been disproportionately affected, facing heightened barriers to accessing essential services, humanitarian assistance and recovery opportunities, while also carrying increased caregiving and household responsibilities. 

This Rapid Gender Analysis, developed by the Gender in Humanitarian Action Working Group, identifies priority actions to support a gender-responsive, disability-inclusive, and locally led humanitarian response and recovery.
