16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence Newsletter 2020

In response to the Secretary-General’s call for action1 and the UN Inter-Agency Statement on Violence Against Women and Girls in the context of COVID-19, the UN System has designed a political engagement strategy in order to accelerate concrete policy response to gender-based violence in the context of COVID-19 and promote zero tolerance of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) across all spheres of society everywhere. The UN Political Engagement Strategy aims to be the primary driver of the UN for coherent messaging, uniting our efforts, aligning actors on exemplars of concrete policy change. Hence, aligning with the UN Political Engagement Strategy, global theme of 2020 for the 16 Days of Activism was: Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect! The newsletter covers some significant highlights of the activism.
