Chittagong University Model United Nations 2024
8 Feb 2024
Chittagong University Model United Nations Association launched its 8th signature event, "Chittagong University Model United Nations 2024” (CUMUN 2024). This year's theme is "Enhancing Global Partnership to Conserve Marine Resources and Promote Sustainable Blue Economy," which focuses on the conservation of marine resources and biodiversity. The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Deans, and Professors of different faculties of the University of Chittagong were present at the opening of the event. We think the conference will be successful in promoting awareness of the significance of taking action to safeguard biodiversity and marine resources, as well as encouraging youth advocacy for a sustainable blue economy.
On the second day of Chittagong University Model United Nations 2024, committee sessions started. Delegates in eight diverse committees, each with its own agenda, deliberated on matters pertaining exclusively to marine conservation and marine resources, including challenges and opportunities. Their dedication and way of analyzing the agenda and main theme of CUMUN 2024, was inspiring and noteworthy. This insightful discourse significantly elevated the conference's core objectives, thereby enhancing the potential for fruitful and enriching committee discussions throughout the remainder of the event. We look forward to a successful discussion of the agendas on the committees for the rest of the conference.
The third day of the Chittagong University Model United Nations 2024 has begun with discussions. Delegates presented their agendas from the previous day and proposed possible solutions to make the committees successful. At this time, delegates discussed the potential of their own countries for global blue economy development, which was inspiring for us. Additionally, the diplomatic maneuvering known as blocking continued among delegates. International Press (IP) held multiple live press conferences in various committees during this time, raising many questions on issues related to sustainable economics.
The day concluded with a delightful social event organized by the Secretariat, where delegates and the executive board enjoyed performances.
