Significant rainfall in Cox’s Bazar is currently causing landslides, flooding, and waterlogging. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BDM) is forecasting that due to active monsoon, heavy (4488mm/24
hours) to very heavy rainfall (<89mm/24 hours) is likely to occur Chattogram in the next 72 hours (from 9am on 19 June 2024). Due to the impact of the ongoing rainfall, further landslides may occur particularly in the hilly regions of Chattogram divisions. The Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar have already been directly impacted.
Below is an initial Flash Update highlighting the immediate needs and response. Additional reports may be issued as the situation evolves.
