Bangladesh: Eastern Flash Floods 2024 Situation Report No. 02

The recent flash floods in Bangladesh have devastated communities across 11 districts, affecting 5.8 million people.
Over 1 million individuals were cut off by the flooding, and more than 500,000 were displaced in evacuation shelters.
The floods have severely impacted essential access, livelihoods, and over 339,000 hectares of crops. Additionally, 7,000 schools are closed, affecting 1,750,000 primary students.
The UN and humanitarian partners are actively mobilizing targeted emergency activities to assist the affected communities and complement local efforts.
