Training on Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA)

On 12 and 13 April 2026, OHCHR delivered training on the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) for 110 frontline protection actors, including Protection Focal Points, Child Protection Focal Points, GBV Focal Points, and case workers, in two batches in Cox's Bazar. The participants represented UN agencies, INGOs, and NGOs, and are mostly front line contact for affected communities, making their understanding of rights-based programming particularly important.

The training highlighted the relevance and importance of international human rights standards to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and explored ways to integrate HRBA into day-to-day humanitarian programming. It also emphasized the centrality of protection in reduced funding environments, prioritization of the most at-risk populations, participation and accountability to affected communities, and the principle of leaving no one behind. The training adopted participatory methodology, practical case discussions, and strong engagement among participants, including constructive debate and exchange of views.

At the end the participants expressed their satisfaction on learning human rights-based approaches and finds useful to their work.
