The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Bangladesh successfully concluded a series of five training programmes on Human Rights-Based Approaches (HRBA) for 136 representatives, including 41 women and 2 persons with disabilities, from 15 Rohingya-led civil society organisations (CSOs). Held on 15, 22 and 29 June, and 6 and 20 July 2026, the trainings brought together representatives from all 33 Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf across five venues in Rohingya camps, Cox's Bazar.Rohingya-led CSOs play an important role in supporting their communities through initiatives on human rights, education, health, women's empowerment, youth development and community awareness despite operating with limited resources. The training series was designed to strengthen their understanding of international human rights standards and equip them with practical knowledge to integrate human rights-based approaches into their community initiatives.Using a participatory approach, the sessions combined interactive discussions, experience-sharing, and group exercises. Participants expressed strong appreciation for the training. In the end-of-training evaluation, 85 per cent rated the overall usefulness of the programme as very useful.Through this initiative, OHCHR continues to support the meaningful participation of Rohingya-led organisations by strengthening their capacity to promote and protect human rights and contribute to more inclusive and rights-based community initiatives across the refugee camps.
