Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) Guidelines
The Government of Bangladesh recognized the urgent need for climate adaptation, approving the National Adaptation Plan in 2022. Bangladesh faces severe climate risks, leading to loss of life and property annually. To mitigate these risks, it's crucial to integrate adaptation strategies into local government planning. Local Government Initiative on Climate Change (LoGIC) Project funded by European Union, Sweden, supported by UNCDF and UNDP Bangladesh and implemented by Local Government is spearheading efforts to embed climate change adaptation into local development planning.
Therefore, LoGIC project has developed local adaptation plan development guidelines to aid the downscaling of the National Adaptation Plan at the upazila level, outlining strategies for the next five years. These include discussions on climate, weather, and the inclusion of local plans in the national framework, facilitating a coordinated approach to combat climate challenges. By localizing the National Adaptation Plan, the project seeks to address area-specific adaptation needs at the grassroots level, ensuring resilience-building measures are tailored to local contexts. Through this collaborative effort, Bangladesh is working towards a more resilient future amidst climate uncertainty.
