Bangladesh's Gender Equality Factsheet 2025
Gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment (GEWE) are integral to realizing the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals as well as the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Moreover, gender equality is a priority in the Government of Bangladesh’s Eighth Five-Year Plan 2020-2026 (8FYP), which recognizes the significance of GEWE in overcoming barriers to economic growth, poverty reduction, and social development. As such, the gender equality agenda of the 8FYP emphasizes strategies and actions that not only enhance women’s capabilities, access to resources, and opportunities but also address structural and institutional barriers and harmful social norms.
This factsheet, and the 8 divisional factsheets developed by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA) together with the Local Consultative Group on Women's Advancement and Gender Equality (LCG WAGE), outlines gender-differentiated data across the country and provides an overview to advance the GEWE agenda.
